Not sure what counts as one?...

Cash advance

, explained properly

“Cash advance” means different things. With CashnGo it’s a regulated personal loan of $300 to $5,000 — not a wage-access app, a credit-card withdrawal or business finance. Here’s how ours works.

Cash Advance

Which “cash advance” do you mean?

“Cash advance” gets used for a few different things: a wage-access app that releases pay you’ve already earned, a cash withdrawal on a credit card, business finance against future sales, or a small personal loan. They’re priced and regulated differently.

A CashnGo cash advance is the last one: a regulated personal loan of $300 to $5,000 you repay over a few months. Up to $2,000 is a Small Amount Credit Contract; $2,100 to $5,000 is a Medium Loan. Either way the full cost is shown before you sign.

Sometimes something cheaper fits

If you just need to bridge a few days to payday, a wage-access app or an interest-free Centrelink advance can cost less than any loan. A No Interest Loan (NILS) covers essentials with no interest or fees, and the free National Debt Helpline on 1800 007 007 can talk it through. If a personal loan still suits, you’ll see every fee before you sign.

One term, several very different products

Part of what makes a cash advance confusing is that the same words cover products with different rules. A wage-access or pay-on-demand app releases money you’ve already earned for a flat fee; some sit outside the national credit rules, so the protections can differ. A credit-card cash advance charges a fee and starts interest immediately. A merchant cash advance is business finance repaid from future sales.

A CashnGo cash advance is none of those. It’s a regulated consumer loan: $300 to $2,000 as a Small Amount Credit Contract with fixed fees and no interest, or $2,100 to $5,000 as a Medium Loan with a single establishment fee and a capped rate. It’s assessed for affordability and covered by the National Credit Code.

What a CashnGo cash advance costs

On a Small Loan there’s no interest: a 20% establishment fee plus a 4% monthly fee. Borrow $1,000 over 3 months and you repay $1,320 in total. A Medium Loan of $3,000 over 12 months comes to $4,289, including a $400 establishment fee, at a rate capped at 48% p.a. (comparison rate 65.6597% p.a.).

By law, Small Loan repayments can’t take more than 10% of your net income, and you can pay the balance out early at any time — on a Small Loan the monthly fees stop from the day it’s cleared.

When to use something else

For a genuine few-day bridge to payday, a wage-access app or an interest-free Centrelink advance can be cheaper than any loan. A No Interest Loan (NILS) covers essentials with no interest or fees.

If you find yourself reaching for an advance every cycle, that’s a sign to get free advice from the National Debt Helpline on 1800 007 007 rather than borrow again.
